Belarus, Saudi Arabia to set up intergovernmental commission

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Saudi Arabia have agreed to set up an intergovernmental commission in line with the 2003 General Cooperation Agreement, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Aleinik visited Saudi Arabia on 17-18 January. The Belarusian diplomat met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Economic and Cultural Affairs Youssuf Al Sa'doun, Deputy Minister for Research and Agricultural Development at the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture Abdullah al-Obaid, Deputy Interior Minister Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Salem, chairman and owner of Kingdom Holding Company Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Mohamed H. Al-Mady and Vice-President of Saudi Arabian Mining Company MAADEN Khaled Al Rowais. The parties discussed ways to step up the political dialogue and cooperation on the international arena, cooperation prospects in trade, investments, manufacturing industry and agriculture and a possibility to establish contacts between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries to prevent transnational crime, illegal migration and trafficking in human beings.
