4G technology to go live in Belarus as from 1 January 2016

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – The 4G technology will be launched in Belarus on 1 January 2016, First Deputy Minister of Communication and IT Penetration Dmitry Shedko said in an interview to the Belarus One TV Channel, BelTA informs.

“4G is currently tested in Minsk. As from 1 January we will have access to this service,” noted Dmitry Shedko. He expressed confidence that Belarus would catch up fast in the positions it is still behind the world’s leading countries in the level of the information telecommunication technology development. “I will not give promises about 5G but I believe that by the end of this ten-year period we will start our preparations for the use of such technologies,” he said.

Speaking about the Wi-Fi service on public transport, Dmitry Shedko said that technically it is possible. “The decision on the issue will be taken in the near future,” the First Deputy Minister said.
