Hugo Chavez to visit Belarus October 16

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez will discuss the state and prospects of cooperation between the two states in various areas during a visit of the Venezuelan leader to Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian head of state. On October 16 the two leaders will hold one-on-one talks and talks with participation of the delegations. Several bilateral documents are expected to be signed. The President of Venezuela is set to visit the Minsk-Arena cultural and sports facility and the National Library of Belarus. The distinguished guest will also get familiar with the exposition of the oil and gas equipment manufactured in the country. The Venezuelan leader will visit one of the construction sites in Minsk to get acquainted with the possibilities of the construction industry of Belarus. Back in 2006 the presidents of the two countries agreed on regular contacts at the highest level to facilitate the development of cooperation between the two countries. This time Alexander Lukashenko and Hugo Chavez are set to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, including cooperation in the petrochemical sector, the plans for industrial cooperation between enterprises, cooperation in the construction and agricultural industries, trade and economic cooperation and expansion of humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela, as well as topical international issues.
