Equal social guarantees for citizens of Customs Union in the future

MOSCOW, 15 November (BelTA) - The countries members of the Customs Union are set to provide equal social, health and pension guarantees to citizens from the states members of the Customs Union, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) told BelTA commenting on the results of the Moscow meeting of the Advisory Committee on Migration Policy at the EEC Board.

"In addition, the Customs Union member states are going to abolish or simplify border controls at the internal borders of the states - members of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space,” the press service noted.

The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects of using the migration card in the member states of the Customs Union. They also reviewed the draft treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union on labor migration and legal status of citizens. "The meeting also analyzed the status of implementation of the EEC recommendations on the labor market and such migration aspects as the increase in the length of stay of migrant workers without registration and cancellation of the migration card for citizens of the SES member states,” the commission said.

Preferential procedure of registration of citizens, which existed on a bilateral basis between Belarus and Russia, and also between Kazakhstan and Russia, now extends to the entire Customs Union: all countries of the Customs Union abandoned the mandatory registration of citizens on the territory of their states within 30 days. The intergovernmental agreement was signed on 4 October this year.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of EEC Minister for Economic and Financial Policy Timur Suleimenov was attended by representatives of the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Belarus, the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan, and also the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Economic Development and the Federal Migration Service of Russia, and also academics and experts of other countries.
