Belarus-Russia-Ukraine youth camp Druzhba 2013 opens 26 June

GOMEL, 26 June (BelTA) – The international youth tent camp Druzhba 2013 will open at the Friendship Monument at the border of the Gomel, Bryansk and Chernihiv oblasts on 26 June, BelTA learnt from the oblast committee of the BRSM Youth Union.

Partaking in the forum hosted by Ukraine this time will be about 2,000 young people from the Gomel, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Bryansk oblasts, Moscow and other cities.

The program for 26 June will include the arrival of all official delegations of youth organizations, a meeting of the international organizing committee, the opening of the exhibition of children’s and youth creative works to mark the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia and an official opening ceremony of the forum.

The program of the forum is going to be interesting and eventful. The four-day forum will feature a town of craftsmen, which is to showcase the products of the best young designers of Gomel Oblast, winners and prize-holders of international fashion festivals. Guests and participants of the youth camp will have an opportunity to partake in master classes in pottery, bead, straw and wooden product making, decorative and applied arts. Roundtables will focus on the issues concerning youth creativity, leadership skills, etc. Participants of the forum will be able to take part in mini football, volleyball, darts, and tug-of-war competitions. Young families will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and sporting character in the contest “Daddy, mummy, me – a sporty family”.

One of the highlights of the forum will be a traditional festival of Slavic nations “Slavic Unity” that is to take place at the Friendship Monument to wrap up the camp on 29 June.

The international youth campground project is held annually at the border of the three Slavic countries in the run-up to the Youth Day celebrated on the last weekend of June. The project is aimed at developing friendly relations between young people of the Slavic countries, popularizing healthy lifestyles, leadership and organizational skills of young people, promoting national cultures and improving the work of youth associations.
