Belarus’ expedition Road to Sacred Places to set off 30 August

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) - A Road to Sacred Places scientific and educational expedition organized on the eve of Belarusian Written Language Day will start in Minsk on 30 August, BelTA learnt from the Information Ministry of Belarus.

The quest which is to be traditionally blessed with the Holy Light from Jerusalem will span across Minsk, Milovidy (Baranovichi District, Brest Oblast), Byten (Ivatsevichi District), Divin (Kobrin District), Tomashovka (Brest District), Malorita, Drogichin, Volovel (Drogichin District), Antopol, Dyatlovichi (Luninets District), Bostyn, Malkovichi (Gantsevichi District). The expedition will comprise well-known figures of science, culture and art, teachers, representatives of the ministries and the clergy.

The expedition will finish in Gantsevichi to mark Belarusian Written Language Day on 4 September. The celebrations will start with a service in the Saint Tikhon Church.

Belarusian Written Language Day festivities traditionally take place in historical and cultural centers. Belarusian Written Language Day has been so far celebrated in Polotsk, Turov, Novogrudok, Nesvizh, Orsha, Pinsk, Zaslavl, Mstislav, Mir, Kamenets, Postavy, Shklov, Borisov and Smorgon. In 2012 the town of Glubokoye, Vitebsk Oblast, is set to play a host to Belarusian Written language Day celebrations.
