Shklov newsprint mill to launch papermaking machine after scheduled shutdown January 15

The Shklov newsprint mill will launch its papermaking machine after the scheduled shutdown on January 15, BelTA learnt from chief engineer of the plant Oleg Misiurov. The papermaking machine was stopped on January 12 because of the planned construction activities and reconstruction of some mechanisms. Specialists of the plant in consultation with the Petrazavodskmash Company (Karelia, Russian Federation) have updated the drier rolls and did some other works that will allow the company to improve the quality of the produced paper, Oleg Misiurov said. On January 15, the papermaking machine will be launched again. The machine is expected to produce 40 thousand tonnes of paper a year. On March 2, specialists of the plant will conduct the second check-out test of the papermaking machine. “The plant will produce not only the standard newsprint but light enameled paper as well. It will allow the company to cover the requirements of the national print media and publishing houses and export it,” Oleg Misiurov said. The construction of the Shklov newsprint mill was launched in 2005. It uses the up-to-date technologies which provide the highest energy efficiency. The up-to-date equipment from France, Austria, Lithuania, Germany, Russia and Finland has been installed there. The cost of the plant is Br439.8 billion. In 2006, a wood-sawing production with the capacity 220 cubic metres of timber was launched at the plant as well. The wood-sawing production facility will produce flooring board, siding board and other sawn wood. In Q2 2008, the plant started the production of wooden houses. In 2009, the plant intends to produce 250 sets of houses. The construction of the plant is very important for the development of the social area of the town of Shklov: around 500 working places were set up, two 60-apartment houses were built for the workers of the plant.
