Number of Ukrainian citizens in Mogilev Oblast up 30% in April-July

MOGILEV, 31 July (BelTA) - The number of Ukrainians who came to Mogilev Oblast increased by about 30% in April-July from the same period last year. These are mainly refugees from the Ukrainian south-east regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, said Sergei Kryukov, the head of the citizenship and migration department at the interior office of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.

"At this point Mogilev Oblast registered 1,535 newly arrived citizens of Ukraine,” said Sergey Kryukov. “200 of them have applied for temporary residence in Belarus, 202 for permanent residence. 38 people have applied for the Belarusian citizenship. The rest have been issued the permits for temporary stay in Belarus for a period of up to 90 days. 80% of the Ukrainian citizens are senior citizens and mothers with minor children. Many of them have relatives in Belarus,” Sergei Kryukov informed.

According to him, the Ukrainian citizens are not creating problems. They are given the opportunity to get a job, receive free emergency and natal care, are given places in kindergartens and educational institutions.

"At the end of July Mogilev Oblast provided jobs to 378 Ukrainian migrant workers. None of the applicants was denied employment. Mostly these are jobs in the construction and agriculture sectors in the region,” said Sergei Krukov.

In addition, Belarus has created a unified databank on employment for migrant workers. Today 190 organizations of Mogilev Oblast offer up to 1,900 vacancies to Ukrainian specialists. The special work permit for a foreign citizen is valid for one year and can be extended.
