Mogilevkhimvolokno intends to diversify its sales markets

Mogilevkhimvolokno intends to diversify its sales markets, Sergei Puzevich, director general of the company, told reporters on January 20. Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky visited the Mogilev-based company to get familiar with the implementation of the investment programme of development of the giant of Belarus’ chemical industry, BelTA has learnt. Earlier, the company has exported about 70% of its products to the Russian Federation (for the textile industry mainly). “Russian importers abandoned the work because of the global financial crisis. So, we have to seek new sales markets,” the director general said. Mogilevkhimvolokno has developed the anti-crisis programme. “We do not sit idle expecting that somebody will buy our products. We constantly visit Europe, America, China, other countries to offer our goods. During the visit to the company Sergei Sidorsky set the task to expand production and preserve the labour collective,” Sergei Puzevich underscored. The company has a great potential for this. Owing to Government’s support Mogilevkhimvolokno has implemented a number of investment projects that helped the company to raise competitiveness of the products. The company has launched the production of polyester base for roofing materials and also HT and LS-type industrial thread. Mogilevkhimvolokno has carried out a big investment project on creation of the power technological unit which provides one of the plants of the company with its own electric energy and heat. Mogilevkhimvolokno continues the implementation of the investment projects and develops new ones within the framework of the technical reconstruction programme for 2008-2012. Mogilevkhimvolokno is a major European producer of polyester yarns and fibres and the only CIS manufacturer of dimethyl terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate. In January-November 2008, the company manufactured goods Br784.5 billion worth in comparable prices, 17.5% up from the same period last year. The exports to CIS and non-CIS countries were $210 million worth (11.6% up). The company was established in 1968, reincorporated as a joint stock venture in 2002. Mogilevkhimvolokno is composed of four plants and one big production facility. The company employs more than 10,000 people.
