Mogilev, Tula sign cooperation agreement for 2009

MOGILEV, April 2 (BelTA) – A cooperation agreement for 2009 between Mogilev and Tula was signed by chairman of the Mogilev City Council Viktor Shorikov and head of the Tula administration Vladimir Mogilnikov in Mogilev on April 2. The agreement is the continuation of the treaty on twin-town relations between Tula and Mogilev and agreements on trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation between, mayor of Mogilev Viktor Shorikov said at the signing ceremony. Tula is one of the main trading partners of Mogilev in the Russian Federation. All cooperation agreements have been implemented successfully. Last year the sides conducted a contact and cooperation exchange for industrial, commercial and financial organisations, various sports and cultural events. One of the good examples of successful cooperation is the contract for the delivery of Mogilev-made lifts to Tula. In 2008, Mogilev exported lifts worth of RUB19.7 million. This year Mogilev has already supplied Tula with 21 lifts worth RUB9.2 million. Mogilevzelenstroi has been cooperating with Tula in landscape design. According to mayor of Tula Vladimir Mogilnikov, the two cities have been developing good business partnership which is a great help in the development of the two cities. Owing to the cooperation with Mogilevliftmash, Tula has managed to restore its fleet of lifts. “We have borrowed a lot of things from Mogilev in terms of city development, creating new jobs and other areas. This means that our cooperation has been moving forward. We have been looking for new projects and opportunities to strengthen bilateral links,” Vladimir Mogilnikov said. According to the new agreement, in June 2009 the sides will conduct another contact and cooperation exchange. A department will be set up in the Tulsky store in Mogilev to sell famous Tula gingerbread. Tula and Mogilev are also going to establish regular tourist exchange this yea.
