Mogilev to see Pablo Picasso’s ceramics
Some 38 Pablo Picasso’s masterpieces will be showcased in the Mogilev branch of the Belarus National Museum of Arts – the Byalynitsky-Birulya Museum on April 25, BelTA learnt from Irina Skvortsova, head of the research and educational department of the Belarus National Museum of Arts. According to her, Mogilev will become the first regional centre of Belarus which will host the exhibition of Picasso’s ceramics from the stocks of the Belarus National Museum of Arts. The dishes, plates, vases, jugs and other items were created with the direct involvement of the artist. The famous collection is a gift of Nadezhda Hodasevich-Leger, our compatriot, the wife of famous painter Fernand Leger and Pablo Picasso’a friend. The works of the Legers, mostly graphic, will be also displayed in Mogilev. Last time Picasso’s collection was exhibited in Minsk in 2008. The exhibition was working during the framework of the international cultural event “The Long Night of Museums” on May 17-18. Only during the first night it was visited by more than 8000 people, and it was opened for almost three months. After Mogilev the exposition will be presented in Vitebsk within the framework of the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar.БЕЛТА
