Mogilev to host Belarus Athletics Championships February 13-14

MOGILEV, February 12 (BelTA) – On February 13-14, Mogilev will host the Belarus Athletics Championships for the prizes of the Sportivnaya Panorama Newspaper, BelTA learnt from Anastasia Marinina, press seceratry of the Belarusian Athletics Federation. Best female athlete 2008 Oksana Menkova and best coach 2008 Valery Vorontsov will be honoured during a ceremony in the Olimpiets Sports Centre of Mogilev On February 13. The best athletes of Belarus will take part in the championships: Nadezhda Ostapchuk (a bronze winner of Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing), Yuri Belov (shot put), Oksana Dragun and Olga Ostashko (60m running), Ekaterina Bobrik (200 and 400m running), Alexander Parkhomenko and Alina Talai (60m hurdle race), Olga Kravtsova (3000m), Yana Maksimova (long jump). Israeli sportsmen are expected to take part in the championship as well. The best female and male athletes of the championships will be awarded Sportivnaya Panorama Newspaper’s prizes. A reminder, last year the prizes were presented to Maxim Lynsha and Nadezhda Ostapchuk. The athletes who have placed high at Belarus’ Open Championships, will make the team of Belarus at the European Championships. This year, the European Indoor Championships will be held in Turin on March 6-8. On February 13, Pole Vault International Tournament in honour of Vladimir Bulatov will be held within the framework of the Belarus Athletics Championships in Mogilev.
