Mogilev Railway Car Building Plant to raise output by 12% in 2013

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Mogilev Railway Car Building Plant which is part of BelAZ Holding Company is planning to increase the production of freight wagons by 12% to 2,800 in 2013, BelTA learned from BelAZ Holding Company.

The plant will export at least 50% of its output. The main gal is to satisfy domestic demand for freight wagons, according to BelAZ. In line with the Belarusian state program of railway transport development for 2011-2015, Belarusian Railways needs 2,500 freight wagons in 2013, including 1,100 designed by Mogilev Railway Car Building Plant.

Currently the plant is implementing the second investment project to rebuild and upgrade existing production facilities and involve idle premises. The project will help expand the model range of freight railway wagons and raise the production capacity to 5,000 wagons per year. In 2012 the plant raised over Br27 billion in fixed capital investments. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.

Mogilev Railway Car Building Plant was founded in March 2005 on the basis of Mogilev Automobile Plant (MoAZ trademark) which is also part of BelAZ Holding Company. The plant manufactures railway freight rolling stock. BelAZ owns 99% of the company’s shares. 1% of shares belong to Siberian Transport Company (Moscow).
