Mogilev Oblast to sprout 1,100 new businesses in 2014

MOGILEV, 4 March (BelTA) – Plans have been made to create 1,100 business entities in Mogilev Oblast in 2014, BelTA learned from Viktor Nekrashevich, Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, at the session of the Mogilev Oblast Business Promotion Council on 4 March.

According to the official, the contribution of private business to the oblast's development gradually increases. At present private business makes up virtually one third of the oblast economy. In 2013 private business accounted for 30.8% of the oblast budget. Apart from economic indicators the oblast’s benefits include a competitive environment, new products, merchandise and services as well as new jobs.

“We are going to continue paying close attention to the development of small and medium business in the region. We have to increase the number of profit-making organizations by 1,100 in 2014. In 2015 the total number of private businesses in the region is supposed to exceed 10,000. We should foster the operation of new businesses, offer them assistance, including guidelines for the enterprises to take care of the needs of specific territories. We should work to increase the output and personnel numbers of every business,” stated Viktor Nekrashevich.

Among the important tasks to be accomplished in the near future Viktor Nekrashevich also mentioned the reduction of the finished goods inventory, the external accounts receivable, and the increase in merchandise export. “We should work harder on creating wholesale warehouses in Mogilev Oblast. Belarus-made and foreign products should be brought closer to customers. We should make sure that business entities and retailers need these products. It will allow reducing the exodus of foreign currency from the region and import,” believes the deputy head of the oblast administration.

Viktor Nekrashevich pointed out that it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of investment contracts. He went on saying that the oblast administration should step up interaction with domestic investors. Government agencies should cut down on red-tape practices when they are asked to give permits and approvals. “We should set up an investment agency in Mogilev Oblast as fast as possible. It will provide support to new and ongoing investment projects using one-stop procedures. We don’t want investors to waste time on collecting information and various documents. The agency will have to be able to provide everything here and now,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.
