Mogilev oblast increases retail turnover by 23.7% in January-August

In January-August 2008, the Mogilev oblast of Belarus increased the retail turnover by 23.3% to make up Br3.3 trillion, BelTA learnt in the trade and services department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee. In January-August 2008, the retail turnover has been formed by trade organizations (65.5%), sole traders (34.5%), physical persons and private companies. The retail turnover of trade organizations including public catering made up around Br2.2 trillion, or 26.4% up as against January-August 2007. The share of sales of domestic goods made up 83.3% including foodstuffs - 88.4% and nonfoods – 75.4%. The retail turnover of organizations of consumer cooperative society reached Br432 billion, or 15.3% up as against January-August 2007. The trade turnover share of these organizations in the total retail turnover of trade organizations of the region made up more than 20%. Organizations of the public catering sold products at the amount of Br124.7 billion, or 8.4% up s against January-August 2007. The share of foodstuffs in the retail trading structure made up around 61.3%. The retail trading and public catering organizations sold products at the amount of Br1.3 trillion, or 117.7% as against January-August 2007. In particular, these organizations increased the sale of meat and poultry, sausages (13.8%), butter (45.8%), cheese (19.6%), fish and seafood (17%), juices (36%). Trade organizations sold nonfoods at the amount of Br832.8 billion, or 41% up over the same period of last year. Thus, these organizations increased the sale of washing machines by 24.3%, clothes and linen – by 63.2%, construction materials – by 35.6%, footwear – by 30.6%. As of September 1, 2008, the trading stock made up Br332.2 billion.
