Mogilev oblast, Eastern District of Moscow ink cooperation programme 2009-2011

MOGILEV, April 16 (BelTA) – The Mogilev oblast and the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow signed a cooperation programme 2009-2011 on April 16, BelTA informs. It is the third programme the two regions sign. The trade between the Mogilev oblast and Moscow in 2006-2008 totaled $1 billion, Chairman of the Mogilev oblast executive committee Piotr Rudnik said at a meeting with a delegation of the Eastern District of the Russian capital on April 16. Over the last three years the agro-industrial companies of the Mogilev oblast delivered $215 million worth of products to Moscow. The Russian capital imports Mogilev elevators (310 elevators in 2006-2008), cement (167,000 tonnes), aerocrete (142,000 cubic metres), electric motors (over 130,000), textile, clothes, footwear, meat and dairy products. “It is significant that our economic indices are strengthened by the cooperation in other areas including culture, education, science, sports,” the Governor said. According to him, both the sides have a serious potential to expand the mutually beneficial cooperation. There are prospects for further development of cooperation among the large engineering companies of the Mogilev oblast and Moscow, creation of joint manufactures, housing construction and overhaul, development of services, tourism, others. The two sides can be proud of what has been done for the past eight years, prefect of the Eastern administrative district of Moscow Nikolai Yevtikhiev said. The two sides have gained some experience they can share with other regions. “Out cooperation has become traditional, routine in a good sense, and it is supported by many real projects,” Nikolai Yevtikhiev added. According to him, many proposals were made during the talks with the Mogilev oblast authorities. The sides will try to materialize them in the near future. This is the participation of Mogilev construction companies in housing construction programmes in Moscow, deliveries of Mogilev-made footwear, expanding the presence of Belarusian-made foodstuffs in Moscow, organising permanent fairs and many other things. “We are confident that the joint cooperation programme will be not only fulfilled, but even overfulfilled. No doubt, the course of events will give us new ideas and projects,” Nikolai Yevtikhiev said.
