Mogilev, Bryansk oblasts to expand cooperation

MOGILEV, 17 December (BelTA) – The Mogilev and Bryansk oblasts are going to reach a higher level of the interregional cooperation. The statement was made at a meeting between Vice Governors of the Mogilev and Bryansk oblasts Anatoly Isachenko and Alexander Kasatsky in Mogilev on 17 December, BelTA has learnt. A delegation of the Bryansk oblast, Russia, led by Vice Governor Alexander Kasatsky is in the Mogilev oblast on an official two-day visit. The delegation comprises heads of the regions, large industrial and agricultural companies. According to Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev oblast executive committee Anatoly Isachenko, the two regions have an untapped potential for cooperation. In January-October 2009 the trade between the Mogilev and Bryansk oblasts was only $18.4 million, or 70% to the same period in 2008. “This figure is rather small. The two regions have a serious industrial production and a well-developed agrarian sector. We have every opportunity to boost trade and reach a higher level of cooperation by setting up joint ventures and through closer cooperation between large agricultural producers,” the Vice Governor said. According to Vice-Governor of the Bryansk oblast Alexander Kasatsky, the cooperation between the regions has been so far limited to the interaction between frontier regions and some enterprises. “It is time we established more systematic and closer interaction in all areas at the level of the oblasts,” he said. “I think that the visit of the delegation and then a return visit will help elaborate a concrete long-term cooperation programme,” he added. Agrarians of the Bryansk oblast would like to purchase Bobruisk agricultural equipment and create joint assembly facilities. There is an interest in the Mogilev-made lifts, construction equipment, and farm produce. Alexander Kasatsky also suggested creating a trading network in Bryansk that would sell Mogilev-made products. A similar project may be realized in Mogilev. The Russian guests intend to visit the Agromashservice company, Babushkina Krynka dairy and to travel to the Aleksandriya agro-town. On 18 December the delegation will visit Bobruiskagromash, Osipovichi dairy and Belshina-agro.
