International festival of church music opens in Mogilev

The 16th international festival of church music “Magutny Bozga” (Mighty God) opened in Mogilev on June 24. For 16 years since its founding the festival has become one of the most important events in cultural and Christian life of Mogilev and Belarus on the whole, the chairman of the organising committee Mayor of Mogilev Viktor Shorikov said at the opening ceremony. The popularity of the festival is growing from year to year; the geography of its participants is expanding. The participants this year have come from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria and the USA. During one week the residents and guests of Mogilev will have an opportunity to enjoy church music which brings good, happiness and love, Viktor Shorikov said. The festival was opened by a concert of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, the State Academic Choir of Belarus named after Grigory Shirma, Gubernsky Theatre of Choir Music from Saratov, a group of soloists “Hermitage” from Moscow and other distinguished groups and artists.
