Bulgarian businessmen propose to set up winery in Mogilev

During a meeting with Chairman of the Mogilev City Executive Council of Deputies Viktor Shorikov, Bulgarian businessmen have proposed to set up a modern winery in Mogilev. A Bulgarian delegation led by Mayor of Gabrovo Tomislav Donchev is in Mogilev on a two-day official visit. According to executive director of the Bulgarian company Bulmat Nikolai Minchev, an idea to set up a winery in Belarus has appeared during a visit of the Bulgarian delegation to the Mogilev-based Winery. “The Belarusian side has experience and skilled personnel, we have up-to-date technologies and natural raw materials. We are ready to buy this winery, invest around ?1.5 million in the technical reconstruction and start to produce natural dry, semidry, semisweet white and red Bulgarian wines in Mogilev,” Nikolai Minchev noted. Bulmat is carrying out the same project in the Uljanovsk region of the Russian Federation where the new winery is expected to be launched in 2009. In turn, Mayor of Mogilev Viktor Shorikov has promised to support the implementation of the project as the Mogilev Winery today has big problems. The proposal of the Bulgarian businessmen will allow the Mogilev Winery to reconstruct its technological process, to produce competitive wines not only for Belarusian but foreign markets as well. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Mogilev City Executive Council of Deputies noted that it is necessary to intensify the bilateral cooperation in economy, in development of closer cooperation ties between companies of Mogilev and Bulgaria, in setting up joint production facilities, in implementation of various projects in social and cultural areas. During the talks, the Bulgarian guests have showed their interest in cooperation with such big companies of Mogilev as Mogilevliftmash, Technopribor, Mogilev Automobile Plant.
