Belarus, Russia’s Chuvashia map out ways to enhance cooperation
Minsk played host to the 16th meeting of the working group on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Chuvash Republic of the Russian Federation. It was co-chaired by Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan and Dmitry Krasnov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Chuvash Republic - Minister of Economic Development and Property Relations, BelTA has learned.
The working group will revisit and update the cooperation plans, Konstantin Shulgan emphasized. "We want to take stock and see if we need to make adjustments. This applies to all areas of the economy. After yesterday's meetings of the head of the Chuvash Republic with the Belarusian president and in the Council of Ministers, a number of issues were raised that we need to pay attention to," he noted.
This is important because the Belarusian president has set a task to double trade with Chuvashia. "This is a serious task that needs work. Development instructions have been given, and we will discuss ways to achieve them," the minister said.
According to Dmitry Krasnov, Belarus has set a very good tune at the start of joint work, “We visited the places immortalizing the memory of ancestors. It made an impression on everyone. The common history obliges us and we will work to promote cooperation with Belarus," he said. “During the visit, agreements were reached not only on economic issues, but also in the humanitarian and cultural sectors. We have also agreed to have our children visit unique patriotic places in Belarus. Schoolchildren and young people should understand the cost of today's peaceful life," he said.
The delegation of the Chuvash Republic is quite large - more than 70 people. It includes representatives of various industries, but mainly the manufacturing sector. As part of the visit, agreements were reached with specific organizations and enterprises of Belarus. "The parties expect concrete results from these agreements. We are obliged to fulfill the set tasks, including doubling the trade " Dmitry Krasnov emphasized.
Within the framework of the meeting with the participation of representatives of ministries and agencies concerned, the parties discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation, contributing to further cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology and culture. A special emphasis was made on ways of increasing supplies of Belarusian agricultural, cargo, utility, passenger and road-building machinery to the Chuvash Republic, ways to intensify the bilateral dialogue in the construction sector, agriculture, culture, sports, tourism and healthcare. Following the meeting a cooperation agreement was signed between Osipovichi District of Mogilev Oblast and Kanash Municipal District of the Chuvash Republic.
