There are plans to attract over $7 billion of foreign investments into the Belarusian economy, First Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Piotr Zhabko told a press conference on October 15.

Most agricultural companies in the Mogilev oblast have finished autumn grain sowing, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.
As of September 29 the oblast had 195,600 hectares of winter grains sown or 100% of the target. 197,500 hectares (101%) of lands has been prepared for autumn sowing. In January-August 2008, the Mogilev oblast of Belarus increased the retail turnover by 23.3% to make up Br3.3 trillion, BelTA learnt in the trade and services department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.

In January-August 2008 180 industrial enterprises of the Mogilev oblast or 82.6% of the total number increased their output, BelTA learnt from the Economy Committee of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.

A large transport and logistics center will be established in Mogilev in 2009, BelTA learnt from spokesperson of the Mogilev customs service Ella Chernova.
The construction of the centre is stipulated in the concept of the development of customs clearance offices adopted by the State Customs Committee of Belarus for 2008-2013. In January-August the Mogilev-based Electrodvigatel Plant increased its exports by almost 28% to $27.1 million, the company told BelTA.
The exports mainly grew due to an increase in supplies of electric engines of different modifications to Russia and other CIS countries. The Russian regions alone imported 142.3 thousand electric engines. The total exports made up 156.4 thousand engines.
