Participants of international youth exchange project to meet in Mogilev
MOGILEV, 15 July (BelTA) - Participants of the international youth exchange project of the four countries will meet in Mogilev on 20-29 July, BelTA learned from Anatoly Babakov, Director of the regional organization of the League of Youth Voluntary Service.
This is the fourth meeting of young people from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Russia and Belarus. The young people are set to discuss topical themes, and to get acquainted with the cultural traditions of the participating countries. First meeting was held in Murmansk in 2010. The next meeting was hosted by the County of Norfolk, England, in 2011, and the Netherlands in 2012. This year, the host country is Belarus.
Each of the groups will include 15 students and 2 supervisors. Traditional requirements are English language skills, sociability, creative and athletic potential. Mogilev will be represented by students of the Kuleshov Mogilev State University which will host the event.
According to Anatoly Babakov, this year the forum is built around the theme "Volunteering: a step forward. Problems, prospects and international experience of the volunteer movement.” The program of the international youth forum includes the presentations on the volunteer service by the participating countries, and also visits to the social institutions of Mogilev. For example, young people will do landscaping and repairs works and also organize some entertainment events in the regional center of developmental education and rehabilitation, children's house No. 1, socio-pedagogical center, Mogilev boarding school for children with scoliosis. Guests will be offered a cultural and sports program: a guided city tour, visit to the Buinichi Field Memorial, walk along the river Dnieper, a trip to Minsk, a friendly football match, paintball, bowling, etc.
“We have participated in similar international projects since the 1990s. Belarus has always been one of the leaders of this movement. Youth exchange gives us more international experience, and broadens the horizon. It allows young people from many countries to establish working and friendly contacts and provides a good chance to practice foreign language skills," said Anatoly Babakov.
