Mogilev to gather young musicians from three countries

MOGILEV, March 20 (BelTA) – On March 23, Mogilev will host the open national contest of young musicians dedicated to famous Belarusian composer Josef Zhinovich, BelTA learnt from Anatoly Kireichenko, director of the Mogilev State Music College. Taking part in the contest will be 189 students of music schools and colleges from all over Belarus, Russia and Lithuania. Within five days, they will demonstrate their mastership on the three stages of Mogilev: the stage of the Mogilev State Music College (dulcimer, balalaika, guitar), the stage of the Mogilev College of Arts (button accordion, accordion) and the stage of the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Academy of Music (domra). The professional jury panel will evaluate the art of execution according to six nominations (dulcimer, button accordion, guitar, balalaika, accordion and domra). The jury will be composed of famous Belarusian musicians including Professor of the Belarusian State Academy of Music Nikolai Sevriukov, Professor of the Academy Evgeny Gladkov, Professor of the Music Academy Galina Osmolovskaya and others. According to the director of the college, the contest which is held once in four years is a significant event of the cultural life of the country. The contest is organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Special, Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for support of the talented youth and the culture department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.
