Mogilev Oblast invited to Torun economic forum

WARSAW, 25 November (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast has been invited to partake in a regional economic forum in Torun, Poland, in early February 2011, Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province Piotr Calbecki said as he met with Consul General of Belarus to Gdansk Ruslan Yesin on 24 November. Piotr Calbecki stressed that cooperation with Mogilev Oblast is one of the most fruitful among the region’s foreign partners, and Mogilev’s participation in the forum will promote trade and economic relations between the two regions. The forum will highlight cooperation in investment, energy and innovations. As of concrete projects Poland has offered Belarusian partners to join the Polish Foreign Ministry’s program, Polish Assistance to Small and Medium-Sized Companies. The Consul General of Belarus also met with Burgomaster of the town of Chelmno Mariusz Kedzierski. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Pomorskie Office of the Poland-Belarus Society and the Dialogue of Cultures Fund n.a. Yakub Kolas founded by the Belarusian nationals for developing cultural ties between the two countries. The participants of the meeting discussed possible establishing of partner relations between Chelmno and one of the Mogilev Oblast towns. According to Ruslan Yesin, implementation of concrete joint projects with the use of resources of the Polish and Pan-European programs will help the regions reach a higher level of cooperation, i.e. rational regionalism for the benefit of the two European regions-partners. “Regional cooperation is one of the main elements in forming a belt of European political neighborly relationship for Belarus,” the diplomat stressed.
