Mogilev oblast intends to set up 42 entities specializing in rural tourism in 2009-2010

MOGILEV, April 20 (BelTA) – In 2009-2010, some 42 entities specializing in rural tourism are expected to be set up in the Mogilev oblast. Such decision was taken at a session of the Mogilev Oblast Council of Deputies at the suggestion of Mogilev Oblast Governor Piotr Rudnik on April 20. In line with the programme of rural tourism development, the physical culture, sport and tourism department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee has proposed to approve the creation of 15 entities specializing in rural tourism in 2009, 14 entities in 2010. According to the Governor of the oblast, this figure is too low. The region has favourable conditions to develop the rural tourism more active, he underscored. The development of rural tourism will help the region attract investments in rural areas, create new working places, develop villages, Piotr Rudnik noted. According to Alexander Gagiev, deputy head of the physical culture, sport and tourism department, there are 20 entities specializing in rural tourism in the eleven regions of the Mogilev oblast including 5 entities in the Mogilev region, 3 entities in the Bykhov region and 3 entities in the Osipovichi region. In 2008, the entities specializing in rural tourism received 3339 tourists (in 2007 – 2660). In 2008, Belagroprombank granted 17 entities preferential loans at the amount of almost Br722 million for the construction and renovation works.
