Khrenin: Global developments prompt Belarus to boost defense capability

The military and political situation in the world and around Belarus highlights the urgency behind ensuring the country’s defense capability, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said in his welcoming speech at the annual training exercise “Military security and state defense”, BelTA has learned.

“We are holding this exercise for the tenth time in line with the decision of the head of state. It is designed to educate and train executive authorities in matters related to state defense, including territorial defense,” noted Viktor Khrenin. “The ongoing military and political developments in the world and around the Republic of Belarus bring a renewed focus on the need to ensure the country’s defense capability.”

He also spoke about the goals and objectives of the training exercise. Thus, participants will be informed about military and political developments around Belarus, methods of using and combating unmanned aerial vehicles based on the experience of the special military operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, as well as the procedure for forming people’s militia.

“I’m sure the training exercise will be productive and, most importantly, useful,” he concluded.
