Bobruisk to host Orthodox Belarus fair on 6-12 February

MOGILEV, 4 February (BelTA) - The Orthodox Belarus spiritual and educational fair will be held at the Bobruisk City Palace of Arts on 6-12 February, BelTA has learnt from the department for ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.

The official opening ceremony will be preceded by the prayer service Before the Beginning of a Good Deed. The wonder-working Icon of the Mother of God of Gorbatsevichi will be put on display and this will be the main highlight of the fair.

Partaking in the event will be representatives of Orthodox monasteries, churches, and Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian publishing houses. The visitors to the event will be offered to buy icons, holy vessels and garments, religious literature, and audio and video products. They will also have an opportunity to talk to monks and priests, to pay homage to sacred things, and to ask to pray for the health or for the repose of the souls of their friends and family.

The fair will feature various craftworks: souvenirs, Gzhel porcelain, Orenburg kerchief shawls, products from goat underwool, wool, flax, and a wide choice of kerchiefs, wide scarves, and felt boots. The visitors will also have an opportunity to buy honey, bee bread, bee glue, vulnerary plants, and herbal liqueurs and to consult professional beekeepers and herbalists.

The program of the fair will feature roundtables, seminars, lectures, discussions with ministers of religions from Bobruisk Eparchy, and the screening of the documentaries about the history of the Orthodox church from the Terrestrial and Celestial series. The residents and guests of Bobruisk will also meet with film director, member of the Union of Russian Writers and the editorial board of the Russkiy Dom (Russian House) magazine Yuri Vorobievsky and with the famous Orthodox writer and journalist Natalia Sukhinina.

The spiritual and educational events will also include a special program Ask a Priest.
