Belarusian Tehnolit to batch produce components for ship engines

MOGILEV, 5 January (BelTA) – The Mogilev-based manufacturer of engine components Tehnolit will start the batch production of components for ship engines in 2016, the company’s Director Alexander Bodyako told BelTA.

Tehnolit will be able to make components for ship engines thanks to the company’s certification by the Russian River Register, which is a federal agency in charge of vessel classification. Now the Belarusian company will be able to fulfill serious orders from Russian shipbuilders and ship repairers as well as foreign ones. “We used to sell our products to ship repair companies but in roundabout ways and via mediators. Besides, those sales were small and far between. Now we count on serious cooperation and will be able to design and make components for internal combustion engines for ships, compressors, turbo compressors, hydromechanical transmissions and other products using our nanotechnologies. Apart from that, we are working to get a similar certificate from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping,” said the Tehnolit Director.

Apart from that, the company is working to start selling components for locomotive, tank, and aviation engines. “Just like all the new products ours are unparalleled in the world. It is very difficult to promote them on the market where everything is still made using blueprints, which are 70-80 years old. But some progress has been secured at least because there is interest in our merchandise. For instance, the Russian manufacturers that work for the defense industry take our products for testing,” noted Alexander Bodyako.

All the new products have been designed in-house. The company uses the unique method of freeze crystallization casting to make them. The operating unit of a product is made using cast iron with high abrasion-resistant qualities. To make it more durable, it is placed inside a special steel collar. The resulting combination can withstand high workload and is well ahead of competition as far as wear resistance and durability are concerned.

Founded in 1997, the Mogilev-based enterprise Tehnolit is the CIS’ only manufacturer specializing in small-batch production of a wide range of piston rings and sealing rings, sleeve pipes, bush bearings, and disks as well as other components for machines and mechanisms. These products are made of special alloyed wear-resistant varieties of cast iron. The manufacturing process has implemented new energy and resource-saving science-intensive technologies. The company’s specialists are also involved in R&D efforts in the area of casting technologies. The company’s freeze crystallization casting technology is unique on the global scale.
