Belarus Premier urges faster development of investment laws

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – The development of the key legal acts meant to improve investment conditions in Belarus should be accelerated, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told the session of the Council of Ministers on 11 May. The head of government remarked that the development of the legal base for the sake of improving investment activities was unacceptably slow. “I recommend that Economy Minister Snopkov, who is an active adherent of market reforms and foreign investors, should make relevant conclusions in addition to general chatter about the matter and should put efforts into creating modern organizational and legal forms of investment work,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich. He pointed out some examples. The draft law on investments has been in development for 1.5 years already and has not been passed yet. The bills on public private partnership and on concessions have not been brought into the parliament at all. The Prime Minister urged the government to pay close attention to the resolution of the problem.
