Ashgabat forum gathers over 150 businessmen from Belarus, Turkmenistan

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – A big Belarus-Turkmenistan business forum kicked off in Ashgabat on 14 October, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in Turkmenistan.

The forum was organized by the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Ashgabat, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries. The event gathered about 150 businessmen, including nearly 25 Belarusian economic operators, the Minsk and Mogilev offices of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The Belarusian delegation is headed by Director General of the BCCI Office in Mogilev Gennady Cherny.

Turkmenistan is represented at the forum by its ministries, agencies and business community.

Representatives of Belarusian companies will hold bilateral meetings with Turkmen partners, share experience in doing business and discuss possible signing of mutually beneficial contracts. The event will also include a cultural program.

According to the embassy, it is the second event of the kind since the two countries established diplomatic relations. The previous forum was held in September 2014 and gathered nearly 150 businessmen.

In 2014 the trade between Belarus and Turkmenistan almost reached $200 million. “The business forum is aimed at intensifying mutually beneficial cooperation in trade,” the embassy said.
