Zabor art project kicks off in Mogilev
MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – Mogilev will host an exhibition as part of the Zabot art project in July this year, BelTA learned from the organizing committee of the event.
The art competition "Na Zabore" has already been held in Vitebsk and Gomel. Now it has kicked off in Mogilev. The contest is open to applications from local artists until 29 May inclusive. The competition preceds the exhibition of the Zabor art project in Mogilev.
The Zabor art project is an exhibition of reproductions of modern Belarusian artists on fences of Belarusian cities. The project was first presented in Minsk on 24 July last year. Then the exhibition was shown in Warsaw (31 October 2012), then in Vitebsk (29 March 2013).
Street-art or public-art has long occupied the urban space of European cities, and now it is spreading in Belarus. The main idea is to make art more accessible, to erase the boundaries between the viewer and the artwork inserting the latter in urban space.
Regular participants of the exhibition in Belarus are artists Ruslan Vashkevich, Sergei Kaval, Vladislav Stalmakhov and Viktor Alshevsky (a native of Mogilev Oblast). Project organizers are now busy looking for the fifth participant.
The winner of the contest "Na Zabore" will be announced in early June. He will get the right to exhibit his works as part of the Zabor art project.
Organizer of the competition is Zubr Capital Investment Company.
