Serebryany: Young journalists’ forum has united professionalism and youth
MOGILEV, 28 November (BelTA) - The Belarusian-Russian Forum of Young Journalists has united professionalism and the youth, Secretary of the Russian Union of Journalists Roman Serebryany told BelTA at the Second Belarusian-Russian Forum of Young Journalists.
“It is great that projects such as the forum of young journalists are implemented. The youth is the main thing we should have our focus on. Our main goal is to have young people get the right understanding of their profession. Yes, progress does not stand still. We have many new technologies, but all of them are just upholding the foundation. The forum helps make professionals and young specialists one unit. And it is cooperation, not opposition,” Roman Serebryany said.
In his words, the Unions of Journalists of Russia and Belarus enjoy a high level of interaction. This work should be continued: “We have the common information space and this cooperation should be developed further.”
The Second Belarusian-Russian Forum of Young Journalists "Common Vision for the Future" is underway in Mogilev on 26-28 November. It brought together more than 150 participants from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Armenia, and also media experts and heads of leading media outlets from four countries. On 27 November the forum offered several master-classes on different issues. Journalists were given a tour of the city.
On 28 November the forum delegates will attend the roundtable “New Media Space: Challenges and Opportunities” and the Perezagruzka (Restart) talk show of the Mogilev TV and Radio Company. The day will also feature the solemn Debut award ceremony. The Belarusian Union of Journalists will give prizes to outstanding reporters, observers, photo correspondents, and TV and radio anchors from the two countries.
The Belarusian-Russian Forum of Young Journalists is designed to develop the skills of mass media workers, to promote international communication between representatives of media professions, and to facilitate the creation of the common Belarus-Russia media community. The event has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, the Belarus-Russia Union State Permanent Committee, the Belarusian Union of Journalists, the BRSM Youth Union, and the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee with the support of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus and the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.
