Plein air paint-out in Mogilev to mark 70th anniversary of Victory
MOGILEV, 30 April (BelTA) - Artists from eight countries will be painting portraits of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War of Mogilev Oblast in the international plein air paint-out The Image of the Motherland in Fine Arts, Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Valery Malashko told a press conference in the Maslenikov Regional Art Museum, BelTA has learned.
The 20th plein air paint-out is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and its main theme is the war and its heroes. More than 20 guests from eight countries will travel around the districts of Mogilev Oblast and reflect their impressions of the nature, architecture and residents in their paintings.
"The broad geography and a large number of creative people at our event shows that our paint-out is not static, that it is rapidly evolving and moving forward,” said Valery Malashko. It is important that among the artists there are both regulars and new participants, and also youth, which speaks of intergenerational continuity. We are sure that during the 10 days of stay in Mogilev they will create many talented pieces that will become the pride of the exhibition and replenish the holdings of the Mogilev Regional Art Museum,” he noted.
The artists already worked in Chausy District and are planning to go to Bobruisk and Klichev districts. They will also visit the memorial complex of partisan glory in Usakino. On 6 May the event will conclude with the opening the final exhibition in the Maslenikov Mogilev Regional Art Museum.
The plein air paint-out was started as a Belarusian-Russian event but eventually it has grown to become international. Many famous artists come here to socialize with peers, share experiences and get creative inspiration. The plein air movement originated in Mogilev Oblast in 1995. Since then, the holdings of the Maslenikov Mogilev Regional Art Museum have been replenished with many works of contemporary artists.
