Mogilev Oblast to mark beginning of Great Patriotic War
MOGILEV, 20 June (BelTA) – An event to mark the beginning of the Great Patriotic War will be held in Mogilev Oblast on 22 June, BelTA learnt from the youth policy department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.
The event is organized by the Regional Committee of the BRSM Youth Organization in cooperation with the Mogilev and Bobruisk Eparchies of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund and with the support of the youth policy department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee. The main leitmotif of the event is “to stop, keep quiet, listen to the mournful sound of the bells, honor the memory of the fallen soldiers, remember their heroism in the name of life for future generations.”
A meeting-requiem will be held at 4.00am at the Buinichi Field memorial.
Wreaths will be put in the Lake of Tears, and a service will be held in memory of fallen soldiers. The event will be attended by representatives of public authorities, the clergy, and the community.
On the same day at 12h00 pm all towns and districts of Mogilev Oblast will observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.
Radio projects, round tables, meetings of children and youth with veterans of World War II will be held across all towns and districts of Mogilev Oblast on 22 June.
