Mogilev launches City Parks project
MOGILEV, 28 October (BelTA) – A new project, City Parks, launched in Mogilev by the Center of City Initiatives, will improve the city ecology and approaches to address the issues of the kind, BelTA learnt from head of the center Yuri Stukalov.“Park and green zones are an important component of the city’s environment, its looks. Unfortunately, the situation at many of them is unsatisfactory today. We should understand that here not only the decisions of local authorities and the work of utility companies are important. Attitude of residents to green zones is vital as well,” Yuri Stukalov said.
The City Parks project envisages a series of themed seminars in Mogilev with the participation of local authorities and environmental watchdogs as well as other stakeholders and public activists. There are plans to work out a concept for the development of one of green zones in the oblast center. Everyone who is interested should feel free to join the work, Yuri Stukalov stressed. “The more proposals come from the city’s residents, the more efficient will be the final result,” he noted.
A special Internet resource will be developed to provide information of the city’s green zones, the progress in the project, as well as the list of all events and photo galleries from the sites.
The Center of City Initiatives was set up in Mogilev in October 2013 by active public figures, journalists, businessmen and sculptors. The major goal of the center is developing initiatives and providing assistance in the implementation of various projects in culture and urban planning. A lot of interesting ideas have been implemented thanks to the efforts of the center and support of the local authorities in Mogilev. The implemented projects included a memorial sign, Mogilev – Belarus and CIS Capital of Culture 2013 near the Mogilev City Hall, a children’s drawing competition, Mogilev – 70 Years Without War, Street-Art Dvorik, the History Canvas, Art Stairs, Dranik-fest and many more.
