Belarus’ new parliament launches first session
MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of new, fifth, convocation gathered in the Oval Hall for its first session on 18 October, BelTA has learnt. The MPs are to form working bodies of the session, confirm the agenda, elect the Chairman of the House of Representatives and his deputies. The new parliament is also set to decide on the composition of permanent commissions. Attending the session are diplomats accredited in Belarus as well as a delegation from the Russian Federation led by First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov. A total of 109 MPs were elected into the House of Representatives in September 2012. 18% of them are re-elected parliamentarians.БЕЛТА
