Belarus, Turkmenistan plan to bolster inter-parliamentary ties
MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) - Belarus and Turkmenistan plan to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation. This matter was discussed at a meeting between members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus and a delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan headed by deputy chairperson of the committee on social policy Dzhoragul Khalbaeva, BelTA has learned.
The meeting has been organized on the initiative of Turkmenistan, the chairperson of the permanent commission on legislation of the House of Representatives, Lyudmila Mikhalkova, told reporters. "Our colleagues form Turkmenistan wish to get familiar with the work of the House of Representatives, the bills we consider. They are also interested in the rules and procedure for the consideration of bills. The visit is primarily aimed at rapprochement of our countries, strengthening inter-parliamentary contacts and sharing experiences," she said.
According to her, the National Assembly of the fifth convocation has a working group on cooperation with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. It is chaired by Alexander Segodnik, the deputy chairman of the permanent commission on education, culture and science of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus.
The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan met with members of the permanent commission for budget and finance of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.
