In January-September 2024, the trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Russia’s Penza Oblast amounted to 114.5% compared to the same period of 2023. The matter was discussed at the third meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Penza Oblast in Brest on 4 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The working group was led by Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik and Vice Governor of Penza Oblast Sergei Fedotov. The Agriculture and Food Ministry was represented by Kseniya Meleshko, Head of the Main Department of Foreign Economic Activity.

As it was noted, cooperation with Penza Oblast is carried out in accordance with the action plan for the implementation of the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural cooperation for 2023-2025. This plan includes two areas in agriculture.

Belarus buys confectionery products, chocolate, beverages, cheese and poultry meat from Penza Oblast.

Secondly, cooperation in the agrarian education between universities has been established.

“In order to develop trade and economic cooperation in the agricultural sector, we invited the delegation of Penza Oblast to visit the events of the Belarusian Agro-Industrial Week which are due in June 2025,” Kseniya Meleshko said. “There are many ways to develop bilateral cooperation, it is necessary to constantly move towards their practical realization and development.”
