Czechia might implement two investment projects in Mogilev Oblast

MOGILEV, 17 April (BelTA) – Two large-scale projects involving Czech investors are to be implemented in Mogilev Oblast. These are the construction of a new production facility at Shklov Newsprint Mill (?70 million) and a pig breeding complex in Bobruisk District (?35 million), Ambassador of Czechia to Belarus Milan Ekert said during his visit to Mogilev Oblast, BelTA has learnt.

According to the diplomat, a similar project to construct a big breeding farm has almost been completed by the Czech company Bauer Technics in Borisov District. The initial full-cycle capacity of the farm makes up 24,000 head per year, with a possibility of increasing the number up to 48,000 head. If this project proves efficient, a similar project will be started in Mogilev Oblast.

According to the economy committee of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, Czechia is the 8th biggest trading partner of Mogilev Oblast out of 109 countries the region trades with. In 2013 the trade with Czechia expanded by 46.4% compared to 2012, up to $30.2 million. The export of Mogilev manufacturers to Czechia rose by 65.6% up to $7.3 million, the import increased by 41.2% up to $22. 9 million.

In January-February 2014, the export to Czechia reached $1.7 million, up 3.5 times from the same period in 2013; the import shrank by 35.1%. The import reduction was due to the absence of equipment deliveries that made up over 70% ($3.6 million) of Czechia’s import to Mogilev Oblast in January-February 2013.

In 2014 the import is dominated by ethylene and polypropylene polymers (61.1%). The import of these products soared 4.3 times compared to January-February 2013. Besides, Mogilev Oblast imports Czech medicines, metal products, malt and beer. This year the region export to Czechia animal fats and vegetable oils, rolled roofing materials, paper napkins and newsprint, electric motors, synthetic fibers, fluid pumps, tires and tractors.
